Silicon nitride ceramic (Si₃N₄) is an important structural ceramic material with the following remarkable characteristics:

1. High strength: Tensile and bending strength can reach half that of other structural ceramics.

2. High heat resistance: Vickers hardness is 15-20 GPa, and it can still maintain a hardness of 8-10 GPa at a high temperature of 1200°C.
