Product Introduction of Silicon Nitride Ceramic Cutting Tools
Silicon nitride ceramic cutting tools possess the following excellent properties:
1. High hardness: Room temperature hardness reaches 92.5–94 HRA, capable of machining various hardened steels and cast irons with hardness up to 65 HRC.
2. High strength: Bending strength reaches 600–800 MPa, exceeding high-speed steel and comparable to ordinary cemented carbide.
3. High-temperature resistance: Maintains considerable hardness and strength even at cutting temperatures of 1200–1450℃.
4. Fracture toughness: Fracture toughness value reaches 6–7 MPam1/2, close to some cemented carbide inserts.
5. Thermal shock resistance: Thermal shock resistance index △T reaches 600–800℃, significantly superior to other ceramic cutting tools.
Precautions
1. Temperature control: Avoid drastic temperature changes; the operating temperature should not exceed 1400℃ for prolonged use.
2. Processing method: Processing requires the use of ultra-hard materials such as diamond tools; traditional turning and milling methods are ineffective.
3. Chemical protection: Avoid contact with strong acids and bases, and protect against oxidation at high temperatures.
Application Fields
1. High-speed cutting of ductile iron and nickel-based alloys.
2. High-precision continuous machining on CNC machine tools.
3. Aerospace component machining (tolerance requirements ≤0.008mm).
4. Machining of high-temperature furnace parts in the metallurgical industry.
