The semiconductor manufacturing industry has extremely strict requirements for component precision, cleanliness, high temperature resistance and non-contamination. Silicon nitride balls have become indispensable core components in semiconductor production equipment due to their ultra-precision size, chemical stability and non-pollution characteristics.


In wafer processing equipment, high-precision bearings use silicon nitride balls as rolling bodies. Semiconductor wafer production needs ultra-clean environment and zero metal particle pollution. Traditional steel balls are easy to produce metal wear debris, which will cause wafer contamination and yield loss. Silicon nitride balls are ceramic material without metal shedding, maintaining high cleanliness for a long time and fully meeting semiconductor clean room standards.


High-temperature diffusion furnaces and oxidation furnaces are key equipment in chip manufacturing. The internal rotating support structure needs components that can withstand long-term high temperature and chemical atmosphere erosion. Silicon nitride balls keep stable mechanical performance under 1200℃ continuous working condition, not easy to soften, deform or react with process gas. They effectively support transmission and rotating structure inside the furnace.


In lithography equipment and precision positioning platforms, micro silicon nitride balls are used for precision guiding and leveling. Their ultra-roundness, ultra-low surface roughness and stable size tolerance ensure nanoscale positioning accuracy. Non-magnetic and insulating properties avoid interference with optical and electronic control systems of lithography machines.


Silicon nitride balls are also widely applied in semiconductor vacuum equipment. In high vacuum environment, metal materials are prone to outgassing and oxidation, while silicon nitride ceramic has extremely low outgassing rate and stable chemical inertness. It will not release volatile substances to pollute vacuum cavity, ensuring stable vacuum degree and process consistency.


With the continuous upgrading of semiconductor chip manufacturing process to advanced nodes, the demand for ultra-precision, high-clean and high-temperature resistant components continues to rise. Silicon nitride balls will occupy a more important position in semiconductor equipment supporting, becoming a key basic material supporting the development of chip industry.
